Japanese pro skier Yuichiro Miura has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records after becoming the oldest man to scale the 8,850-meter Mt. Everest in May last year.
Miura, at the age of 70 years and 222 days, rewrote the previous Guinness record held by fellow Japanese Tomiyasu Ishikawa, who reached Mt. Everest's summit at the age of 65 years and 181 days. Miura is known for having skied down the highest mountains on the world's seven continents and was also active a pro skier in the United States in the 1960s.
