Former Japan defender Naoki Soma, who was recently released by Kashima Antlers, is set to join the J. League second-division Kawasaki Frontale.
"There are few (contract) details to be finalized but I think Kawasaki is the team I think I'm going to join," Soma told reporters on Sunday after appearing in a testimonial for former national teammate Masami Ihara at Tokyo's National Stadium.
Soma is likely to sign later this month for Kawasaki, which narrowly missed out on promotion to the J. League first division this past season.
The 32-year-old played for Japan in their World Cup debut in France in 1998 and has earned 59 caps.
