The European affiliate of the National Football League held an open tryout for Japanese players in Tokyo on Saturday with nearly 50 players taking part for a chance to play in NFL Europe next season.
Quarterback Kentaro Namiki of Waseda University, who was named the MVP of the Kanto Collegiate Football League for the second year in a row, and linebacker Rikiya Ishida of Asahi Drinks, who played in the Arena League in the United States this season, were among the participants.
The names of those who pass the tryout will be announced Monday.
