Four-time consecutive money leader Yuri Fudo was selected as this season's Most Valuable Player on the Japanese women's golf tour, the Japan LPGA said Tuesday.
Fudo became the first woman ever to win 10 tournaments in one season on the Japanese women's tour and was the top finisher in all categories, including average strokes, birdies and eagles. Miho Koga, a third-year pro who won two tournaments and placed third on the money list, received the Rookie of the Year award.
Ai Miyazato, the first high school student to turn pro on the women's tour, received the Fighting Spirit Award after she became the first player in 30 years to win a tournament as an amateur.
