Remy Bonjasky of the Netherlands won the 2003 K-1 World Grand Prix and a $400,000 jackpot at the Tokyo Dome on Saturday, with a points victory over surprise finalist and home favorite Musashi.
Bonjasky used an array of kicks to take out Australian Peter Graham and Frenchman Cyril Abidi en route to the final.
But it was Japan's Musashi who had the 75,000-strong crowd on their feet for most of the event, after he shocked Ray Sefo in the first round and then accounted for veteran and three-time champion Peter Aerts in the next. Both victories were achieved on points.
