Japan midfielder Shinji Ono resumed training at Feyenoord on Monday, 24 hours after he passed out in his side's league clash with Ajax on after being struck by a ball.

Ono lost consciousness after a fierce shot from teammate Robbie van Persie crashed into his midriff and had to be stretchered off in the 2-0 defeat and taken to hospital.

"I still feel a bit sore but I should be able to join the rest of the lads tomorrow," Ono told reporters after going through a separate training session from his teammates.

"That's the first time I've passed out. Normally in a situation like that I'd just get up and continue playing," he said.
