Yoshitomo Tani belted a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the 12th inning as the Orix BlueWave edged the PL frontrunning Fukuoka Daiei Hawks 4-3 at Yahoo BB Stadium on Friday.

Tied 1-1 in the fifth, Tadahito Iguchi and Nobuhiko Matsunaka smacked back-to-back RBI singles to give the Hawks the lead.

Lefty Yuji Yoshimi (3-10) held the Carp to three runs on nine hits -- including two solo homers -- while striking out nine over seven innings for his first win since May 3 after losing seven straight decisions.

The BayStars scored five runs in the first inning with Murata's three-run homer and a two-run blast by Katsuaki Furuki -- both off Carp hurler Kan Otake (0-1).

Up 5-3 in the eighth, Nakamura slammed his fifth career grand slam to widen the lead for Yokohama.

Second-year pitcher Otake gave up five runs on five hits over one inning of work in his first career appearance.

Hiroshima lost its third game in a row and fell to .500.
