Yokozuna Asashoryu bulldozed out Takanonami for a perfect 8-0 record Saturday, widening his lead over his closest contenders to two on the eighth day of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.
Seeking his second career title, the 22-year-old Mongolian grand champion thrusted powerfully at No. 4 maegashira Takanonami's neck and chest, quickly bulldozing the opponent out.
Seven wrestlers, including three ozeki and four lower-ranked wrestlers, were 6-2 and sat two victories behind Asashoryu, the only one undefeated.
