Japanese midfielder Toshiya Fujita scored his first goal for new club Utrecht but it was not enough to save his side from a 2-1 loss away to the defending league champion in the Dutch first division Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 through goals from Mateja Kezman (16) and Mark van Bommel (72), Fujita opened his account when he swept home a cross from the right from Jean-Paul de Jong deep into injury time at Phillipsstadion.

"Of course it was nice to score my first goal but I looked up at the clock after it went in and realized 90 minutes were up," said the 31-year-old, who joined the Dutch Cup holder on loan from J. League club Jubilo Iwata last month.

"Hopefully next time I can score and the goal will help us win," he said.

In the German Bundesliga, Naohiro Takahara was unable to score as Hamburg SV lost 1-0 away to Bayer Leverkusen, a result that left Kurt Jara's men languishing in 17th in the 18-team division.
