Japan beat South Korea 4-1 in the Far East qualification round Saturday and booked a place in the 2004 men's ice hockey World Championships to be held in the Czech Republic.
The victory at Higashi Fushimi Ice Arena in Tokyo guaranteed Japan a seventh straight appearance in the world meet since the Far East division was established in 1998. The division will be abolished after next year's championships.
