SportZone, an English-Japanese bilingual weekly sports newspaper, will make its debut on Friday, July 18.
SportZone will feature some of the top sports writers in the world today, including ESPN's Shelley Smith, Paul Wilson of the Guardian/Observer, John Harper of New York's Daily News, Larry Stone of The Seattle Times and Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Daily News.
The 24-32 page tabloid will also feature segments by golf legend Gary Player, Orix BlueWave manager Leon Lee and renowned Japanese author and social commentator Masayuki Tamaki. There will also be several articles by local sports writers and a monthly in-depth sumo feature by David Shapiro.
The first issue will include stories on Hideki Matsui, Shigetoshi Hasegawa, David Beckham, George Arias and the Tour de France.
SportZone will be available by subscription and at select convenience stores and train/subway station kiosks.
