The home stadium of J. League first division club Jubilo Iwata will be renamed Yamaha Stadium next Tuesday, the club's parent company, Yamaha Motor. Co., said Friday.
Yamaha's rugby team, which has been renamed Jubilo, will also play around three games a year at the stadium in Shizuoka Prefecture in the newly formed Top League, which kicks off this autumn.
The stadium is currently known as Jubilo Iwata Stadium. Yamaha hopes that staging soccer and rugby matches will help boost the popularity of both sports in the area.
