Masako Tokeshi set a Japanese record of 86 kg in the snatch and went on to lift a total of 187.5 kg to win the women's 63-kg category on Friday, the second day of the national weightlifting championships in Tokyo.
In other second-day competition at Ota-ku gymnasium, Toshihiro Miyake, a nephew of the legendary Tokyo Olympics gold medal lifter Yoshinobu Miyake and a son of Mexico Olympics bronze medalist Yoshiyuki Miyake, followed in the footsteps of his sister Hiromi as he snared the men's 77-kg class title with a total lift of 295 kg, marking his first win in two years and fourth overall.
On Thursday, Hiromi Miyake won the women's 53-kg category.
