Aya Umemura and Ai Fujinuma have been cleared to compete in the women's singles table tennis competition at the 2004 Athens Olympics, the Japan Table Tennis Association said on Saturday.
It will be Fujinuma's second time to compete after her showing at the 2000 Sydney Olympics while Umemura will make her debut at the summer Games.
Umemura and Fujinuma had already booked spots in the Olympics after finishing the World Championships in Paris last month, where they were ranked 26th and 30th, respectively.
The other competitors for the national team will be determined after the Olympic qualifier next April in Beijing.
