Yoshinobu Takahashi smashed a game-tying solo homer to ignite a go-ahead three-run seventh as the Yomiuri Giants beat Hiroshima 6-5 at Sapporo Dome on Thursday to complete a three-game sweep of the Carp.
Trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Daisuke Motoki pinch hit an RBI double to cut the lead to one run.
In the seventh, Takahashi nailed his 11th dinger of the season to tie the game and Yomiuri scored two more runs with consecutive RBI singles by Shinnosuke Abe -- who went 3-for-4 -- and Motoki.
Giants reliever Hiroki Sanada (3-6) worked one inning and picked up the win while Yukinaga Maeda pitched the ninth and gave up a run but earned the save.
Tigers 8, BayStars 2
Trey Moore (8-2) held Yokohama to one run on eight hits over 6-1/3 innings while fanning eight as Hanshin beat the BayStars at Koshien Stadium, sending Yokohama to its ninth straight loss and 13th straight against the CL leader.
Makoto Imaoka and Norihiro Akahoshi connected for three hits each.
Carp's Kimura out with ulcer
SAPPORO (Kyodo) Hiroshima Carp catcher Kazuyoshi Kimura was diagnosed with a gastric ulcer and taken off the active roster Thursday, officials of the Central League club said.
Kimura had been batting .259 with 14 hits and 11 RBIs in 38 games.
