With Keiji Hirose showing why he is nicknamed "Golden Boots," Toyota scored over 20 points in all three games at Chichibunomiya Stadium in Tokyo, beating Yamaha 28-21 in the first round and NEC 21-19 in the semifinal of the seven-man competition played among the top 24 Japanese teams, including 13 corporate teams.
