World silver medalist hammer thrower Koji Murofushi skipped a trial meet at Toyota, Aichi Prefecture on Saturday, opting out of what would have been his season-opening competition due to rain.
Murofushi, who canceled his trip to South Africa earlier this week because of a mystery virus that is spreading mainly in Asia, is not expected to make his next meet appearance before April 26 when another trial meet is scheduled.
"I'm setting my goals on the Paris World Championships in August, so there's no need to rush. I'm in the final stages of my preparation," said Murofushi.
"For now, I'm only positive about my taking part in the (May 10) Osaka Grand Prix meet," added the national record holder.
