The Yakult Swallows said Thursday they have acquired right-hander Jason Beverlin, formerly of the Detroit Tigers, for the upcoming season.
Beverlin, who made his major league debut with the Cleveland Indians last August and was claimed off waivers by Detroit two days later, will come to Japan within the next few days for the official signing of the contract.
The 29-year-old Beverlin compiled an 0-3 record in seven games in his major league career.
