World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Masamori Tokuyama will defend his title against sixth-ranked Japanese Katsushige Kawashima on June 23 at the Yokohama Arena, Tokuyama's fight promoter said Tuesday.
It will be Tokuyama's seventh defense of the title he wrested from South Korea's Cho In Ju in August 2000.
The 28-year-old Tokuyama, a pro-Pyongyang Korean resident of Japan, has a record of 28 wins, including eight knockouts, against two losses and a draw.
The sixth-ranked Kawashima, a former Japan champion, has a record of 23-2 with 16 KOs.
