The Japan Amateur Baseball Association will amend its articles of association to allow former pro baseball players, managers and coaches to join corporate baseball teams on a legitimate basis, officials said Friday.
Currently, it is common practice for former pros to join corporate teams only in special cases.
In a related development, the association has abolished another provision whereby corporate players have to obtain permission from the association to be coached by anyone connected with a professional ballclub.
