Ai Fujinuma ousted teenager and national teammate Ai Fukuhara en route to her first title of the Japan Top 12 table tennis tournament Sunday, while veteran Seiko Iseki won his second crown.
Fujinuma edged Sayaka Hirano 4-3 (11-4, 4-11, 5-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-9) in the women's final at National Yoyogi gymnasium annex after scraping through Fukuhara in a first-round group match.
Chinese-born former national champion Iseki beat Ryo Yuzawa 4-1 (11-13, 11-9, 11-9, 11-9, 14-12) in the men's final for his first victory in two years in a tournament limited to leading Japanese players.
