Champions from three major Asian professional soccer leagues will compete in Tokyo next month in a new tournament, the A3 Mazda Champions Cup 2003, organizers announced Monday in Tokyo.
Dalian Shide, China's seven-time C. League titleholder, and five-time South Korean K. League champion Seongnam Ilhwa will play J. League champion Jubilo Iwata and the Nabisco Cup-winning Kashima Antlers, a guest from the host country, in the round-robin tournament at National Stadium in Tokyo on Feb. 16, 19 and 22.
Xerox Super Cup
J. League champion Jubilo Iwata and Emperor's Cup winner Kyoto Purple Sanga will meet in the Japanese soccer season's curtain-raiser, the Xerox Super Cup, on March 1 (1:30 p.m. kickoff) at National Stadium in Tokyo, organizers announced Tuesday.
