Olympic and world champion Ryoko Tamura on Monday announced she was suffering from a suspected fracture in the third finger of her right hand.

"My doctor told me that I might have fractured my finger," said Tamura, who aggravated the injured finger during the Fukuoka women's international judo meet Sunday.

"If the swelling doesn't ease, I'll get it checked out at the hospital," added Tamura.

Tamura sustained the initial injury in practice late last month but she decided to participate in Fukuoka, where she won the 48-kg final Sunday for her 12th victory in the event.
