A new taekwondo body was launched Sunday after an internal feud within the Japan Taekwondo Federation reached the point where reconciliation appeared impossible between rival factions.
Takanobu Mori was named president of the new group at its inaugural general assembly meeting after disputes at the JTF crippled its operations as the sport's national governing body for nearly a year.
The row led to a no-show by Japanese taekwondo competitors at the Asian Games this fall.
