Overnight leader Shingo Katayama carded his second straight 4-under-par 66 on Saturday to open up a six-shot lead over closest challenger Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki heading into the final round of the season-ending Nippon Series JT Cup.
Katayama reeled off four straight birdies from the fourth in a flawless front-nine 31 at Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club and added two more birdies against two bogeys after the turn to lead an elite field of 20 players on a 54-hole total of 16-under 194.
Looking ahead to the final round of the Japanese tour season, Katayama joked, "I want to be Santa Claus and deliver presents to all the people who have supported me (this season)."
