World champion judoka Noriko Anno of Japan beat South Korea's Cho Soo Hee in the 78-kg final Saturday to claim her seventh victory at the Fukuoka women's international meet.

Anno edged Cho on the judges' decision at Fukuoka Kokusai Center on the opening day of the two-day event that also saw Ayumi Tanimoto crowned the 63-kg champion as host Japan claimed two of the four weight categories.

Anno scraped past Jenny Karl of Germany on a decision in the semifinals and then again failed to win a decisive point in the final against Asian Games winner Cho in their first-ever meeting.

World silver medalist Tanimoto won her second straight Fukuoka crown with a clean over-the-shoulder throw 3 minutes, 36 seconds into an all-Japanese final against Yoshie Ueno, whose powerful, attacking judo helped set up an enthralling encounter.
