The Hanshin Tigers on Saturday announced the acquisition of right-hander Hideki Irabu, while the Chiba Lotte Marines have signed former Yokohama BayStars infielder Bobby Rose to a one-year, 80 million yen deal.
Irabu was released by the Texas Rangers last month following a season cut short by blood clots in his lungs.
Last week, both sides reached a basic agreement on a one-year, $2 million deal including a signing bonus and incentives. A Hanshin official confirmed the sealing of the contract Friday in Los Angeles.
