Thai champion Pongsaklek Kratindaenggym pounded out a unanimous decision over Japan's Hidenobu Honda to retain his World Boxing Council flyweight title Tuesday. Southpaw Pongsaklek outclassed second-ranked challenger Honda throughout the 12-rounder at Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium, scoring with crisp jabs and uppercuts, and was the clear winner on all cards.
Gus Mercurio of Australia scored the fight 119-109, Guillermo Ayon of Mexico 115-113, and South Korean Kim Jae Bong 116-112. "That was one of my best wins," Pongsaklek said. "I felt I had the edge after the second and third rounds."
