Japanese playmaker Hidetoshi Nakata grabbed his second goal of the season to send Parma on its way to a 2-1 victory over lowly Atalanta in the Italian first division on Sunday.

National team midfield partner Shunsuke Nakamura was also on the winning side as Reggina came from behind to edge Torino at home by the same scoreline to record its first victory in Serie A.

At Stadio Tardini, Nakata put Parma in front on 14 minutes when he drove home a pinpoint pass from the left from Romanian international Adrian Mutu.

Nakata went close to grabbing a second seven minutes before the interval when Matteo Ferrari headed on Mutu's corner but the former Roma midfielder's effort was well blocked by Atalanta defender Gianpaolo Bellini.

"I feel a lot more comfortable in this position," said Nakata, referring to his attacking role in Parma's 4-3-3 formation.

In Reggio Calabria, Nakamura was unable to get on the scoresheet but inspired some of Reggina's best moves and the home fans were chanting the former Yokohama F Marinos star's name when they mobbed the team bus after the game.
