Scott Laycock held off challenges from two of the top Japanese golfers Sunday as the Australian journeyman went wire-to-wire to win the Bridgestone Open for his first career victory in Japan.

Laycock, whose bogey at No. 14 robbed him of sole possession of the lead, rebounded to birdie the par-5 16th and went on to edge Toru Taniguchi and Shingo Katayama by one shot after a final-round 71 and a total of 16-under 272.
