Japan midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura converted a second-half penalty to give Reggina its first point of the season as the newly promoted Serie A side earned a 1-1 draw at Como on Sunday.

Despite looking the more dangerous on the break, Reggina went behind in the 17th minute when former Bradford City and Middlesbrough striker Benito Carbone scored from the penalty spot after Jorge Vargas had handled the ball just inside the box.

But the visitors stepped up the pressure in search of an equalizer after the break and Mozart and David Di Michele both went close before the industrious Nakamura gave his side a deserved share of the spoils in the 63rd minute.

The referee again awarded a penalty after spotting a push on Alessandro Pierini and Nakamura stepped up to drill the ball into the corner for his second goal in as many matches.

"I'm glad I could stick the penalty away but it would have been sweeter if we had taken all three points. Hopefully my next goal will come from open play," said Nakamura, whose other goal also came from the penalty spot in last week's 2-1 defeat at home to Inter Milan.
