Jinsei Gakuen pounded out 21 hits off four pitchers as the Kagawa Prefecture school hammered Akita Shogyo 17-1 Wednesday to advance to the third round of the national high school baseball championship.

Cleanup hitter Yuki Sekino hit a homer and leadoff man Kiyonobu Uemori had four hits as Jinsei, a quarterfinalist in the spring national invitational tournament, dominated the second-round game at Koshien Stadium with power hitting.

In Wednesday's other games, Fukui routed Asahikawa Kogyo of Hokkaido 10-0, Chiben Gakuen of Nara beat Nagasaki's Kaisei 3-0 and Tokyo's Teikyo blanked first-timer Kosen of Shiga Prefecture 5-0.

Fukui starter Hiromi Fujii pitched a seven-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and helped himself with a homer, pacing his team to its first victory in 20 years in the annual tournament.

Chiben Gakuen went ahead on an RBI single by Hitoaki Komeda in the third inning and Yohei Tanaka took a no-hitter into the sixth en route to his second shutout in as many games on a two-hitter.
