Yokohama right-hander Shane Bowers tossed eight-hit ball over the distance for his first shutout win in Japan as the BayStars beat the Yomiuri Giants 1-0 at Yokohama Stadium on Thursday.
Bowers, playing his second year with the BayStars, allowed one walk and struck out four for his fourth win of the year.
The BayStars scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning on Hitoshi Nakane's solo home run off Giants hurler Yusaku Iriki (4-3).
Iriki fanned eight over seven innings in a losing effort as the Giants suffered their seventh shutout loss of the season.
Dragons 4, Swallows 3 (10)
Chunichi left fielder Takayuki Onishi singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning at the Nagoya Dome, lifting the Dragons over Yakult to snap their losing skid at four.
With the Dragons up 3-1 in the sixth, Alex Ramirez -- who went 3-for-5 and hit a solo homer in the second inning -- smashed a two-run homer off Chunichi starter Kenshin Kawakami to tie the game.
Tigers 7, Carp 4
Makoto Imaoka and Akihiro Yano each homered and lefty Trey Moore held Hiroshima to three runs over five-plus innings for his eighth win as Hanshin beat the Carp at Hiroshima Stadium.
Atsushi Kataoka hit an RBI single in Hanshin's two-run first inning, and the Tigers scored three runs in the second inning with Imaoka's homer off Hiroshima starter Yasushi Tsuruta (2-5).
