Yasuharu Imano survived a shaky back nine to win the Aiful Cup and secure back-to-back titles after a final level-par round of 72 on Sunday.

Imano, who won the NST Niigata Open last week, led the tournament from the opening day but dropped two shots in the last six holes and finished just one stroke ahead of Toshimitsu Izawa on a 20-under total of 268.

"I thought at the beginning of the week I was in with a chance (of back-to-back titles). On around the 13th hole, I started to think about winning and my knees and back started creaking and even walking was tiring," Imano said.

Tateo Ozaki carded a final-day 66 to finish in a tie for third on 270 with Tetsuji Hiratsuka (69).

Fudo defends title

MIKI, Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) Yuri Fudo made five birdies in a seven-hole stretch on the back nine Sunday as she turned a two-shot deficit into a comfortable four-stroke victory at the Vernal Open, a tournament she won last year.

Fudo began her charge with three straight birdies from No. 10 in a round of 68 en route to a total of 6-under-par 210 and her second title of the year.

Chieko Amanuma and Taiwan's Lu Hsiao-chuan both shot 70s and finished tied for second at 1-under 215.
