BayStars right fielder Boi Rodriguez hit for the cycle to become the 52nd player in Japanese pro ball to achieve the feat, but Yokohama was unable to overcome eight solid innings by Hiroshima starter Masayuki Hasegawa as the Carp won 6-2 at Ocean Stadium in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
Rodriguez went 4-for-4, hitting a triple in the second inning, a solo homer in the fourth off Hasegawa, a single in the sixth, and completed his cycle in the ninth with a double.
Hasegawa limited the BayStars to one run on six hits and walked none. He fanned 13 batters en route to his eighth win against four losses.
