Fernando Seguignol became the first player in Japanese baseball to homer from both sides of the plate three times in a season, leading the Orix BlueWave to a 7-2 victory over the Kintetsu Buffaloes on Friday.
Seguignol, batting right-handed, hit a second-inning leadoff shot off southpaw Katsuhiko Maekawa (4-7) over the right-center wall and then switched to the left side in the sixth to deliver an opposite-field solo drive off Daisuke Miyamoto.
Yoshitomo Tani singled home two runs to key a four-run third as Orix built an early 6-0 lead. Hiroshi Kobayashi (1-0) worked five innings in relief to pick up his first win of the season.
