Kashiwa's Europe-bound midfielder Yoo Sang Chul ended his spell in the J. League with a consolation goal in Reysol's 2-1 defeat to the Urawa Reds at National Stadium in Tokyo on Wednesday night.
Trailing 2-0 in the 90th minute, Yoo showed off some of his skills, by collecting a long feed from behind with his left foot to strike home a fine volley. His shot hit the inside of the right post to find the net for his 38th goal in the J. League.
Urawa's young forward Tatsuya Tanaka put the visitors ahead in the 45th minute after calmly turning around Kashiwa goalkeeper Motohiro Yoshida in the area to slot home from close-range.
The Reds made it 2-0 through Brazilian midfielder Harison in the 80th minute for his first goal of the season.
"You shouldn't give up as long as you have a minute or even 30 seconds remaining in the game. I just did what I could do," Yoo said of his final goal in Japan. "It would have been better if our team had won the game, though."
"It was a sad night," Reysol manager Steve Perryman said. "It would have been much better if we were good enough to win the game. We were desperate to send him off with a winning note."
Yoo, 30, has received a few offers from European clubs after inspiring South Korea to a third-place finish in the recent World Cup. He still has to wait to learn which club he will join as his agent is currently negotiating in Europe.
