Sherman Obando hit a solo homer and Satoru Kanemura pitched eight effective innings Monday as the Nippon Ham Fighters beat the front-running Seibu Lions 5-2 for their first win since the All-Star break.
Obando got the Fighters on the scoreboard at the Tokyo Dome with his 19th homer of the season in the second inning of the Pacific League contest as Nippon Ham went on to snap a five-game losing skid.
Yukio Tanaka hit a two-run double in a four-run fourth inning to help make a winner of Kanemura (5-2), who allowed two runs on six hits to pick up the win.
