Nobuhito Sato turned a one-stroke deficit into an overwhelming six-shot victory Sunday, shooting a final-round 64 to win the Japan Golf Tour Championship Iiyama Cup for his second major title on the Japanese circuit.

The 2000 Japan PGA Championship winner earned the 24 million yen winner's check out of the 120 million yen purse, which moved him to the top of the money list with total earnings of 71.6 million yen.

Kuboya, winner of the Japan PGA Championship and the KSB Cup in two weeks in May, ended up with a 71 and a 14-under 274 total.

David Smail of New Zealand followed in third at 276 after a 68.

Fujino holds on to win

KANRA, Gunma Pref. (Kyodo) Overnight leader Orie Fujino made an eagle and two birdies over the final six holes Sunday as she claimed a two-stroke victory in the Belluna Ladies Cup golf tournament.

Fujino, who slipped into second briefly during the final round, reclaimed the lead with an eagle on the 15th hole and closed with a 3-under-par 69 at the Obatago Golf Club on her way to a 10-under 206 in the 54-hole event.

Taiwan's Tseng Hsiu-feng birdied three straight holes from No. 14 and finished runnerup at 8-under 208 after a 70.
