The Chunichi Dragons' latest foreign acquisition, right-handed pitcher Martin Vargas, arrived at Nagoya airport Sunday and is reportedly set to join practice with the Central League club Monday.

Vargas, a 24-year-old pitcher from the Dominican Republic, has no major league experience and last played for the Cleveland Indians Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, New York.

Used primarily as a reliever by the Buffalo Bisons, Vargas had appeared in 22 games with a 3-2 record with eight saves.

He also compiled an earned run average of 2.31. Vargas will earn an estimated $200,000 for the rest of the season and will wear uniform No. 39.
