TAEGU, South Korea -- Turkey clinched third place in the World Cup with a 3-2 victory over South Korea on Saturday in an entertaining game at Taegu.
The Turkish team got off to an explosive start when Hakan Sukur scored the fastest goal in World Cup history. Still, the co-hosts were quickly level through an excellent free kick from Lee Eul Yong.
Later in the first half, Turkey took advantage of some uncertain defending by the Koreans and sealed the game with two goals from Ilhan Mansiz.
