Toru Taniguchi capped his wire-to-wire run at the front of the Tamanoi Yomiuri Open on Sunday with a bogey-free round of 69 for a two-stroke victory.

Taniguchi, who kicked off the tournament with a bogey-free 65 Thursday, carded three birdies without a bogey for an 18-under total of 270 and a comfortable victory.

Satoru Hirota (65) and Daisuke Maruyama (67) finished two shots behind Taniguchi at 16-under 272.

Takahashi steals title

NAKATSUGAWA, Gifu Pref. (Kyodo) Mihoko Takahashi closed with a 4-under 68 Sunday and captured her first professional tour title with a one-stroke victory at the Apita Circle-K Sunkus Ladies.

Takahashi carded six birdies against a pair of bogeys to overcome a two-shot deficit and spoil Takayo Bando's bid for a wire-to-wire win with a 7-under 209.

Bando could only match par over the final nine holes for a 71 and had no answer for Takahashi's three birdies to finish second at 6-under 210.
