KOBE -- A flash of brilliance from Rivaldo and a clinical finish by Ronaldo handed Brazil a 2-0 Round of 16 victory over Belgium in front of a predominantly Brazil-supporting crowd of 40,440 on Monday night.
With Kobe Wing Stadium awash in a sea of yellow, Brazil mounted a wave of attacks in the first half but had little to show for its troubles at halftime.
While Brazil in the first half played some attractive soccer, in the second half it at times looked like the Brazilians would struggle to beat local side Vissel Kobe. The England players in the stands will not have been overly impressed with this Brazil side as they look forward to their mouthwatering quarterfinal clash in Shizuoka on Friday.
