Daiei rookie hurler Hayato Terahara, last year's No. 1 overall draft pick, surrendered three hits and struck out seven over six strong innings to pick up his first career victory as a professional as the Hawks topped the Orix BlueWave 3-1 on Sunday at the Fukuoka Dome.
In his second start, Terahara's fastball was clocked at over 145 kph and he was perfect through his first four innings. He did not give up a run in his six-inning stint.
"I was able to throw strikes and get ahead in the count today," Terahara said. "I still need to get my stamina up enough to throw more pitches."
