The Japanese World Cup organizing committee (JAWOC) said Friday it will not print individual names on the tickets allotted to the official sponsors for the upcoming tournament.
JAWOC, which had stuck with its policy of printing the buyer's name on a World Cup ticket to help prevent forgery and terrorism, approved the exceptional measure at the request of an increasing number of sponsors calling for flexible use of their tickets.
JAWOC said some corporate sponsors are concerned that the schedules of their important guests may change during the May 31-June 30 tournament, making it difficult for them to prepare tickets specific to any individuals. These tickets will bear sponsors' names or the Japan Football Association.
