Yokozuna Takanohana, seeking to return to competition after one year at next month's summer sumo tourney, went through an easy workout Saturday and dismissed suggestions that his training regimen may be too light.
Takanohana went through 14 practice bouts with the junior wrestlers in the Futagoyama stable in Tokyo, but did not square off with any of the stable's wrestlers in the senior divisions.
"There's still some time. The number of practice bouts is important, but right now, I think it's more important for me to regain a feel for wrestling," said Takanohana, who has missed the last five grand sumo tournaments with torn knee ligaments.
