MUGELLO, Italy -- World champion Michael Schumacher was forced to cut short his testing program at Mugello on Saturday after crashing his Ferrari in the morning session.
The German had beaten the lap record round the Italian circuit three times before the crash, setting a best mark of 1 minute, 21.690 seconds.
But the session ended when Schumacher's radical new F2002 car suffered a "technical problem" and he went straight on at one of the left-hand corners.
