The drawing to decide successful applicants for the third round of World Cup ticket sales will take place as early as April 26, providing the Japanese World Cup Organizing Committee receives a reply from FIFA, JAWOC said Friday. The April 26 drawing has been set based on JAWOC's initial plans.
The Japanese committee earlier expected to hear from FIFA about the number of tickets available for the third round of sales by April 12.
But JAWOC still hasn't been informed about the finalized figures as FIFA is still checking the latest situation with the various national associations and sponsors about their ticket demands. This has frustrated Japanese officials, who are waiting to see if and when they can carry out their plans.
If JAWOC doesn't receive the information by April 26, the drawing could be postponed.
