The Fukuoka Daiei Hawks erupted for five homers in a 14-hit attack to down the Nippon Ham Fighters 12-9 on Monday to move into first place in the Pacific League standings.
Hiroki Kokubu slammed the first of his two homers of the evening in the second inning to open the scoring at the Tokyo Dome before Koji Akiyama belted a three-run shot in the fourth to add to the hit parade.
With Daiei ahead 6-5 in the sixth, Morgan Burkhart, Tadahito Iguchi and Kokubu each connected for homers and drove in six runs between them to make it 12-5.
