Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki rapped out a pair of hits and stole three bases Sunday as the Seattle Mariners downed the Chicago Cubs 6-3 in an exhibition game.

Ichiro, last season's American League MVP, singled to left in his first at-bat and stole second and third bases before scoring a run on a Brett Boone double for Seattle's first run.

Ichiro reached on an infield single to shortstop in the third inning and stole second before racing home as Seattle stretched its lead to 3-0.

Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit, to notch the save.

In Jupiter, Fla., So Taguchi singled after coming on in the eighth as a defensive replacement as the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers played to a 1-1 tie in 10 innings.

Taguchi, who had been struggling at the plate, grounded out in the eighth before singling to right with two outs in the 10th. He is now 6-for-39 with a .154 average this spring.

Meanwhile, San Francisco outfielder Tsuyoshi Shinjo went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in the leadoff spot as the Anaheim Angels trounced the Giants 13-3.
